I volunteer at Newcastle Elementary school with the Robotics Program. I work with 2nd through 5th graders teaching
introductory programming concepts as well as introductory engineering concepts. Blockly Botball is a personal project
that I've put together to use a drag-and-drop programming interface (Google Blockly) to help the kids program their
robots. I've used Bootstrap 3 as the front end framework and integrated the Blockly API into the editor. The site
is powered by the Deployd App NodeJS framework. This framework provides an API backed by a MongoDB data store. I
modified a C programming language generator file to accept the Botball Robotics API and output the program to a
textarea, allowing the students to copy/paste this code directly into the Botball IDE and compile the code to the
robot without the need for manual changes. This site has not yet been released and is still under heavy development.
